My wife and I have taken to rescuing chihuahuas and other small dogs that have been abused, neglected and mistreated. We currently have three in our care that have warmed my heart, and inspired me to take better photos.

Here’s some photos I took of the curious nature of dogs. Some, like our white applehead Belle, are intimidated by the camera but eventually warm up to it.



Others, like Hershey, are so excited by the camera that you can’t get him to stand still long enough to get shots from other angles. He’s always looking forward, ears up, happy to see someone paying attention to him.

Still others, like Brutus, are untrusting and always on alert. You can see by the concerned look on his face that he’s always ready to run. He’s an incredible character, and I love shooting his photos in low light with an F/1.8 USM 50mm.
